A Pair of Brass and Iron Miners Safety Lamps - A pair of vintage miners safety lamps, also known as Davy or flame safety lamps. The lamps are constructed with ferrous iron or steel chimneys and brass collars, bases, and vertical support rods. Each lamp features a cylindrical glass combustion chamber protected by the brass cage. The upper chimneys are perforated with ventilation holes and are surmounted by iron caps with heavy gauge wire carrying handles and hanging hooks. The central brass collar of one lamp is stamped with the digits 3, 9, 1, and 5. There are other small impressed marks on the brass components which are not legible. The lamps are assembled with a combination of rivets and threaded fittings.
