A unique tile from William De Morgan's Merton Abbey (Stamped to rear). NOTE:A unique tile from William De Morgan's Merton Abbey period (1882-1888). (There is a stamp on the back.) Inspired by Ottoman Turkish Iznik tiles and Persian Qajar tiles, this work of the artist mostly bears the inspiration of the simple colors and floral motifs of Iznik tiles. This rare collectible tile is approximately 15 cm2. In 2010, a vase from William De Morgan's Merton Abbey period was sold at Cristis for 1500 GBP. Similarly, in 2024, a pair of tiles from William De Morgan's Merton Abbey period were sold at Lyon and Turnbull for 8820 GBP.
