A black and white engraving, 50x60 cm. Hand painted from that period with the division into the twelve tribes. In an elegant wooden frame.
A creation of the father Gillis (1688-1766) and his son Didier (1723-1786) of the Robert de Vaugondy family, creators of famous and important Parisian engravings of Biblical maps at the beginning of their careers. The pair created the map according to the Bible and limited geographical knowledge, before the first explorers explored the territory to confirm or contradict their estimates.
