Ktav HaDa"T. Purim Firenze
Prayer service for the Firenze [Florence] community on the first anniversary of its rescue from a pogrom, by Rabbi Daniel Tirani. Livorno, 1791. Only edition.
On 27 Sivan 1790, the Jewish community of Florence was saved "When a force gathered to wreak havoc and loot, and Hashem saved the community from its hands." After about a year, they arranged a day of thanksgiving for the rescue, with a special prayer service. The community's rabbi, Rabbi Daniel Tirani, arranged the booklet with the prayer service based on the Chid"a's work Sansan L'Yair, printed the previous year. With a special hymn including details about the rescue.
The miracle of this rescue is known as 'Purim Firenze.'
The printer's device appears on the back of the title page with the inscription "We have come to celebrate a holiday." Refer to A. Ya'ari, Diglei HaMadpisim HaIvriim Miluim no.6, who surmises that this inscription is specifically for this book, as in it, a Yom Tov was declared, and this is the first book they printed.
