"Amudei Golah" with the elucidation of Rabbi Yehuda Zeitlin, Kopust, 1820. First edition, pedigreed copy
First edition of the glosses and novellae of Rabbi Yehoshua Zeitlin on the Amudei Golah - Sm"k [Sefer Mitzvot Katan of Rabbi Yitzchak Corbeil, a Tosfot]. Many stamps of Rabbi Yehuda Meshel HaKohen Tsirkel, rabbi of Plock, prominent Polish rabbi.
Approbations from the rabbis of Sklow and Kopyst. The book was printed in a similar format to the Liady edition of 1805, with the addition of the "Hagahot Chadashot" in the margins. The title page bears the censor approval, in wake of the decree regarding prints of 1836.
Rabbi Yehoshua Zeitlin was a disciple of the Sha'agat Aryeh. He supported the GR"A in his polemic againt the chassidim. This is the only one of his works that was printed. His other manuscripts were lost in a fire that broke out in his estate near Sklow.
Nice copy, mostly printed on blue paper.
[4] 2-6, 93, 51, 40, 39-58 leaves. 21 cm.
Old cardboard binding, very fine condition.
