Shu"t Divrei Chaim by the leading Admo"r of Galicia, Rabbi Chaim of Sanz, known by the name of this book, as the 'Divrei Chaim.' Two parts in one volume. Lvov, 1875. First edition, printed during the author's lifetime. Pedigree copy.
The author arranged and prepared his responsa for print in his later years, dedicating his nights to this work. When he would approach a "responsum" regarding an agunah, " he engaged in much asceticism and ritual immersion before signing on the release" (Pitcha Zuta Eruvin, 1907, in the introduction).
Stamps on the first title page: "Shimon Yechezkel son of Rabbi Yehoshua Feivel Frankel Teomim ztz"l, av beit din Podgórze and region, Krakow - a descendant of the Baruch Ta'am; "Shlomo Biegeleisen." Signatures on two leaves in the book: "The youth Yosef Chaim Bogeleisen of Barnov" - for more about him, refer to Encyclopedia L'Chachmei Galicia VI p. 202.

Moderate-fine condition. Tears in the title page of the first part with blemishes in several words. Tears in the first four leaves and the last two leaves with damage to text. Aging stains and minimal worming perforations in the margins.
