Chessed L'Alafim by Rabbi Eliezer Papo. First Edition. Salonika, 1936. Signatures and Glosses

Sefer Chessed L'Alafim - legal novellae on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim with words of mussar, by the gaon Rabbi Eliezer Papo, author of Pele Yoetz. 1936, First edition. Rabbinic owners' signatures on the title page and the following page from the time of printing, as well as several glosses along the length of the book.

Halachic work by Rabbi Eliezer Papo, author of Pele Yoetz. The book was published posthumously by the author's son, Rabbi Yehudah Papo, who added some of his own material and also Kabbalistic conduct according to the Ar"i. Calculating from the year detail on the title page, the year of print was 1841, but according to the name of the press, the bibliographers determined that the letter ה' should not be counted, and the correct year of print is actually 1836.

The author, Rabbi Eliezer Papo, was known as a sacred person, and his grave site in Bulgaria was a pre-Holocaust pilgrimage site, where the masses would flock on his yahrtzeit and in general - and experience salvation. The reason for this is that before his passing, he promised that anyone who would visit his grave after ritual immersion and recital of Tehillim, along with prayer with proper intent, would experience salvation and mercy regarding all his needs. The renowned Kabbalist Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto, av beit din of Morocco, known as “The Tycoons' Rabbi” renewed the tradition of going to his grave site in recent years. Many wealthy and common Jews travel together with him in a series of airplanes and tell of open wonders that occur there year after year.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Eliezer Papo.
