Beit Aharon, First Edition - Fundamental Book of Karlin Chassidism
Beit Aharon - Chassidut on the Torah portions and the festivals by the Admo"r Rabbi Aharon of Karlin. Brody, 1875. First edition. Fundamental book of Karlin Chassidism. One of the most renowned and important sefarim of all time.
Aside from the doctrines, this sefer includes letters, conduct and missives from Admo"rim of the Karlin dynasty: Rabbi Aharon HaGadol of Karlin, his son Rabbi Asher, his grandson Rabbi Aharon II, and his great-grandson, Rabbi Asher II.
The renowned zemer for Shabbat, "Kah Echsof, " composed by Rabbi Aharon HaGadol of Karlin, is printed on leaf 6. This zemer was enthusiastically received across all Jewish communities, mitagdim and Chassidim alike, who sing it at the Shabbat night meal.
This first edition has several variants; it was revised during the course of the printing. The leaves in this variant are as follows: Full title page (including the additional line with the words: And with wonderful matters ...) and the censor's permit on the back. On the following leaf: "To become aware and reveal that there are 410 approbations ..." Followed by a leaf with an 'introduction' and on the last leaf, a 'table of errata.' (Refer to the article by Rabbi Avraham Abish Shorr 'Al Darkei Ketivat V'Hadpassat Sfh"k' Beit Aharon, ' Kovetz Beit Aharon V'Yisrael Year 6 Issue 1 (31), 139-147).
