Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Ya'akov Poppers.

After his passing in 1742, his two sons, Yehudah Leib and Ze'ev Wolf, published this renowned work, Shu"t Shev Ya'akov. The book became a central halachic work, and it is widely cited, inter alia in the Pitchei Teshuvah commentary on Shulchan Aruch. The book is adorned with an approbation by his successor to the Frankfurt Rabbinate - the author of Pnei Yehoshua.
