Large, impressive collection of works from the treasury of Jewish music in the United States, mainly in Yiddish. Most were written and printed in the first half of the 20th century.
Specifications: [77] booklets, groups of works and leaves of musical notes, for performances, for musicians and for singers, for the cantor and for the choir, from 1907-1965. This large collection includes a secondary collection of holy and mundane songs, for the home, the school and the synagogue: Collections from the works of cantors and composers, collections of folk songs, and more.
Special Features: The works included in this collection show an unmediated picture of the Jewish culture in America in general, and especially Jewish musical creation in the United States in the first half of the twentieth century, its standard, content and distribution, and on the activities of the centers of activity of the Jewish composers, singers, cantors and musicians over the years.
