Yediot Iriyat Tel Aviv, Issues 1-12. 1933

There is a notification on page 363 on behalf of the municipality with a signature from the mayor, Meir Dizengoff, protesting ... Sabbath desecration in public: "All private automobile and motorcycle owners are requested not to drive in the city on Shabbat and holidays," concluding with "Protect the Shabbat and it will protect us!"

Yediot Iriyat Tel Aviv is the official newspaper of the Tel Aviv municipality. It was first published in 1921 following a recommendation by the members of the Tel Aviv committee to publish a city newspaper which would update residents of the various decisions taken by the municipal institutions established after the decision by High Commissioner Herbert Samuel to grant Tel Aviv status as a city distinct from Jaffa, and it has since functioned as a separate authority.

This was the first innovative attempt by a Jewish governmental institution in the Land of Israel during the British Mandate to publish a Hebrew-language newspaper. The first editions of the newspaper included protocols and decisions of the city council and its administration. The newspaper also includes much material about its institutions, its economy and its political situation, financial reports, obituaries and various pictures from life in the city, maps and construction plans, and it presented life of the Jewish Yishuv in Tel Aviv of those years.
