A Brief Guide to Al-Haram Al-Sharif. Jerusalem, 1924. First Edition

A Brief Guide to Al-Haram Al-Sharif published by the Supreme Moslem Council.

A Brief Guide to Al-Haram Al-Sharif (from the Arabic for "Holy and Honorable Place" - a name for the Temple Mount) published in English by the Supreme Moslem Council, which was led by Arab leader Haj Amin al-Husseini. It includes 7 pictures: The Temple Mount from the northwest, the Dome of the Rock from the northeast, the Foundation Stone, the exterior and interior of the Al-Aqsa mosque, and more. First and especially rare edition (most of these booklets offered for sale are later editions).

The booklet was published by the Supreme Moslem Council, a body that constituted the supreme Muslim religious authority during the British Mandate. Haj Amin al-Husseini led the Council. He was the mufti of Jerusalem and the one who established units of Muslim volunteers within the framework of the Waffen SS. Husseini also met with Hitler in his support of the Nazis, and some say that he was the one who first conceived the idea of exterminating the Jews.

The booklet is written from a very Muslim perspective, as would be expected, but it does not refrain from covering the Jewish historical background of the Mount as the site of Solomon's Temple.

16 pages, 24 cm; fine condition. Aging stains. Tears without lack in the margins. Blemish to the jacket cover without damage to text.
