Collection of [10] Documents from the Litzmannstadt Ghetto. 1940s
The collection includes: 2 milk vouchers, cigarette voucher, bread voucher for hospitalized patients, work certificate, document of ghetto residence, registry of presence at work, food vouchers, request form for a bread ration card.
In contrast to other ghettos where food and basic goods were smuggled in from outside the ghetto; in Lodz, the German authorities were so strict that it was virtually impossible to smuggle anything in. The Jews were completely dependent on the German authorities and Judenrat for food, medicine and any other vital goods. The ghetto was completely liquidated by the Nazis in 1944.
Yiddish and Polish.
Various sizes. Very fine condition. Some of the documents are filled out in pen and some are stamped.
