Finally, the auction features antique & vintage porcelain dolls from one of the largest known collection. All dolls come in original packaging and have never been opened (except for photography). 18th c. Burmese Alabaster Shan Style Buddha
18th Century Antique Burmese Alabaster Shan Style Seated Buddha Sculpture | Hand-sculpted from alabaster stone | The Buddha is seating in Padmasana (lotus) position, the right hand in bhumisparsha mudra, (calling the earth to witness his victory over the evil king Mara as approaching enlightenment) and the left in dhyana mudra (gesture of meditation), upon a lotus throne. The head shows a hairline with an onion-shaped ushnisha, arched eyebrows, and traditional elongated earlobes. Buddha's face appears serene and content, with bliss and delight showing in the downcast eyes and smiling lips. Traces of lacquer can be found scattered. Back of sculpture has what appears to be Burmese handwriting | Approx. Dimensions: 12" H x 7" W
