Originally featured in an editorial in Classic Cars magazine, back in Oct 2018, the current owner was smitten and made the journey to Southampton to collect from a specialist dealer.
The H.E, or 'High Efficiency' version of the V12, introduced originally back in 1981, made for better fuel economy and higher BHP. 291 BHP is on tap for this V12.
The automatic gearbox makes driving a car like this a pleasure.
The XJS-C was Jaguars first attempt at a convertible and whilst it is not a full traditional convertible with a flat deck was the roof is folded, it offers safety features such as the fixed roll bar, which would be most welcome should one find the car rolling over in an accident.
The 2+2 cabin set up is comfortable and practical.
Originally supplied from the Jaguar factory as a grey car with 2 front seats and starfish alloy wheels, a previous owner, in their wisdom (perhaps they came into some money!), had a full respray carried out in the correct signal red paint, fitted a more modern 2+2 seat arrangement with electric front seat adjustment and finished the car off with cross spoked alloy wheels.
The only way we had any indication that this car was once grey was by looking at the paint code under the bonnet.
Enjoy it as a targa top, or drop the hood at the rear (manually) and have a convertible with a fixed rollbar.
