In the woods, by Daniel Folger Bigelow (1823 - 1910), an American painter active in NY and Chicago,
Oil on Canvas 22 x 16, Frame 34 x 28 inches.
Daniel Folger Bigelow was born on a farm in Peru, New York. Moved to New York City in 1843, and to Chicago in 1858, where he was an associate of G.P.A. Healy, and established a studio in Crosby s Opera House. Circa 1887 was a charter member of the Academy of Design (later the Art Institute of Chicago). Bigelow exhibited in many galleries, as well as at the National Academy of Design, World's Columbian Exposition, and Philadelphia's Centennial Exposition of 1876.
