SHIPPING, COLLECTION AND STORAGE
UK POSTAGE AND HANDLING
Your shipping cost has two parts, and your invoice shows them as two separate lines:
1. POSTAGE — a base rate for each box we send. Everything you won goes in one box wherever it fits.
2. EXTRA HANDLING CHARGE — £1.95 for every lot after the first in your order. This is packing, not postage. Every lot is wrapped and protected separately, and with ten lots in a box that is most of the work.
Postage, per box:
Small parcel — £8.95. Up to 2kg, and about the size of a shoebox.
Medium parcel — £11.95. Up to 10kg, and about the size of a wine case.
Large parcel — £19.95. Up to 20kg, and about as much as you can carry in both arms.
Over 20kg — sent by Parcelforce Express48. Email us for a quote.
Furniture and extra-large lots — collection only, or email us for a quote.
Those sizes are a guide, not a rule. The band is set by size and by weight, and if your lots go over on either, they move up a band.
If everything will not fit one box we use more than one, and each box is charged at its own rate. The extra handling charge is counted once across your whole order, not once per box.
Example. Ten lots, all fitting one small parcel:
Postage £8.95, plus extra handling 9 x £1.95 = £17.55
Total £26.50
Example. Twenty lots needing two small parcels:
Postage £8.95 + £8.95 = £17.90, plus extra handling 19 x £1.95 = £37.05
Total £54.95
NOT SURE WHICH BAND YOU ARE IN? You do not have to work it out. Email info@homefrontauctions.co.uk with the lot numbers, before you bid if you like, and we will tell you what posting them will cost. We would far rather quote you first than surprise you afterwards.
Everything is packed carefully, and fragile lots are wrapped and protected properly. There is no extra charge for that.
Collection from our Swansea saleroom is free. Details below.
Outside the UK: email info@homefrontauctions.co.uk and we will quote you.
WHAT YOUR PARCEL IS COVERED FOR
Cover comes from the courier.
Royal Mail Tracked, up to 20kg — £75
Parcelforce Express48, over 20kg — £150
Any buyer can upgrade to Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm, covered to £750, £1,000 or £2,500. It is a different service, not extra insurance: you get guaranteed next-day delivery by 1pm as well as the higher cover. Email us for a price before you pay.
Using your own insurance instead: email info@homefrontauctions.co.uk before we dispatch.
LARGE ITEMS AND FURNITURE
We do not post large furniture. Two options:
1. Collect it yourself, free, from the saleroom.
2. Within 100 miles of the saleroom we can sometimes deliver ourselves, subject to driver availability. Email us for a quote.
Further afield, or for anything we cannot pack safely, these three are used by our buyers and are worth a quote:
Mail Boxes Etc — packing and shipping of individual items
Shiply — courier quotes for furniture and large lots
AnyVan — van and man for house-lot quantities
We have no arrangement with any of them and take no commission. You book direct.

Sat nav: SA5 4DY
Open for collections Monday to Friday 10:00 to 14:30. Saturday 1pm to 3pm.
Ring 01792 978155 before you set off and we will have your lots ready by the door. Bring your invoice number.
TWO DEADLINES — PLEASE READ THIS BIT
There are two, and they are both 7 calendar days from the sale closing. A sale that ends on a Friday must be paid for by the following Friday and collected by the following Friday.
If a deadline lands on a day we are closed — a Sunday, or a bank holiday — it moves to the next day we are open, and both deadlines move together. So for a sale that ends on a Sunday: day seven is a Sunday, we are shut, and both deadlines become the Monday.
They are separate deadlines and missing them costs you different things:
Miss the payment deadline and you can lose the lot. Miss the collection deadline and storage charges start.
You can only collect lots you have paid for.
If either deadline is going to be a problem, ring us on 01792 978155 before it passes. It is the call we would rather have than the one afterwards.
PAYING — AND WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DO NOT
Pay for your lots within 7 calendar days of the sale closing.
If a lot is still unpaid at 7 days and we have heard nothing from you, it is cancelled and goes back into a future auction, and the bidder may be permanently blocked from bidding with us again. We will contact you before that happens, and if a resolution is reached within 48 hours of us contacting you, neither applies.
Talking to us stops this. If you need longer, ring 01792 978155 before the deadline.
Where a cancelled lot is re-sold, storage and disposal charges are deducted from the proceeds before any payment to the vendor.
COLLECTING — AND WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE LATE
Collect your lots within 7 calendar days of the sale closing. Collection is free.
Storage is £5 per lot, per day from the day after the deadline, until your lots are collected. That covers secure storage, handling and administration.
Charges apply — but tell us if you need longer and we will do our best. Ring before the deadline and we can usually hold your lots at no charge. Ring after it and we can often still be flexible on the fees, when we hear from you in good time. The longer you leave it, the less room we have.
01792 978155. It is the call we would rather have than the one afterwards.
We can also post your lots to you instead, or hand them to someone collecting on your behalf. Just tell us who.
LOTS LEFT UNCOLLECTED
We are not in a hurry to move your lots on, and we do not mind holding them for longer if you need us to. Just talk to us. Ring 01792 978155 or email info@homefrontauctions.co.uk and we will sort something out.
What we cannot do is hold lots for someone we cannot reach.
Day 7 — collection deadline, or the next day we are open. We write to you that day: your lots are ready, storage starts tomorrow, and here is the date they would go back into a sale if we hear nothing at all from you.
Day 8 — storage starts at £5 per lot, per day.
Day 14 — if we have still heard nothing from you, lots may be sold, at auction or
privately.
Where lots you have already paid for are sold this way, we deduct the storage charges and the cost of selling them from the proceeds and send you the balance.
None of this happens to anyone who is in touch with us.
IF SOMETHING IS LOST OR ARRIVES DAMAGED
Homefront Auctions is not liable for loss or damage in transit once a parcel has been dispatched. Tell us and we will make the claim against the courier for you — you do not have to deal with them yourself. What they pay is set by the cover for the service used, above.
Two things make a claim far more likely to succeed:
1. Photograph the packaging before you open it.
2. Tell us within 7 calendar days of delivery.
