ROMAN JUPITER INTAGLIO IN SOLID GOLD RING
Ca. AD 200 - 300.A carnelian intaglio with a depiction of Jupiter, the most powerful of the gods in Roman mythology. The god is portrayed in his left profile, with a commanding presence and facial features that exude an aura of divine authority. Notably, Jupiter is depicted with an abundant beard and hair, symbolizing his mature wisdom and power. His face reveals a prominent brow, piercing eyes that emanate a sense of divine insight, and a regal nose that adds to his dignified countenance. Jupiter was one of the central deities in the Roman pantheon. He was revered as the ruler of the gods, associated with the sky, thunder, and lightning.
