EGYPTIAN LATE PERIOD TORSO OF OSIRIS
Ca. 664 - 332 BCAn Egyptian torso fragment in green greywacke stone depicting the revered deity Osiris. Osiris is god of the underworld and stands in mummiform. Osiris is presented wearing a wesekh broad collar and holds his signature heka scepter and flagellum (nekhakh) in staggered hands atop his abdomen. This would have been a votive figure, perhaps kept in a wealthy home and prayed to, deposited in a temple as an offering, or, most likely, kept for ritual.
