Ca. AD 1800-1900.A beautiful seated, gilded and bejewelled bronze Avalokitesvara. Avalokitesvara is portrayed as a male deity in India and is also known in the female form as Guanyin. The serene figure is shown with two hands in Anjali, one hand holding a lotus and the other holding a mala chain. The headdress and body ornaments are bejewelled.
