Ca. AD 1800.An icon of the French arsenal during the Napoleonic Wars, this infantry sabre is referred to as a briquet. The hilt is one piece of cast brass with a D-shaped guard and a ribbed handle, and the guard has been stamped with inspection marks "P" and "D". There is also an unclear stamp on the ricasso.
