FLINTLOCK POCKET PISTOL
Ca. 1820s AD.An early 19th-century flintlock pocket pistol with a smoothbore barrel. The receiver is signed on one side by the gunmaker Harris and on the other with the word Leicester, likely the city where the gun was made. The external barrel is round and appears to have been made in two parts before being affixed together. The wooden handle is squared rather than rounded and possibly made from walnut. Size: 195mm x 75mm; Weight: 285gProvenance: From the private collection of an Essex gentleman; previously in an old British Collection, formed in the 1990s.
