The costumes of the Near East, Album assembled in the early 18th century, containing about 120 cut-outs and mounted text engravings and figures from engraved plates, including 65 contemporary coloured figures on 36 separate leaves from N. de Nicolay's "Navigations et peregrinations Orientales" published in 1591 and considered "the first work to represent the costume of the Near East in detail" Size: 570mm x 470mm (framed dimensions); Weight: 1.4kg Provenance: Previous property of an Islamic art professional.
