SUMERIAN STATUETTE OF GODDESS
Ca. 1400 - 800 BC. A terracotta statuette of a goddess depicted standing nude, with both hands held to the chest. The facial features are shallowly defined, with large eyes, a prominent nose, and a small, closed mouth. She wears a headdress that frames the face and extends down the back. The waist is subtly narrowed, and the hips are subtly accentuated. She stands on an integral base that extends upward along her back, forming a columnar support.
