EGYPTIAN OBSIDIAN JAR WITH GOLD BAND - SUPERB
New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. An obsidian vessel composed of a body decorated with a gold band at the shoulders. The body has an ovoid shape seated on a discoidal base, a narrow neck, and a short, folded rim. For similar see: British Museum, Museum number EA24391 (use of gold band in Egyptian vessels) Size: 75mm x 35mm; Weight: 95g Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Sotheby's, Sale N07858, Lot 120, 11 December 2002. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
