RARE EGYPTIAN BLACK BASALT KOHL POT WITH LUGS
Pre Dynastic, Ca. 3100 - 2900 BC. A scarce basalt kohl pot with a rounded, slightly tapered body that narrows towards the flat base. The shoulders curve gently upward to meet a flat rim. Two small, protruding lug handles are positioned symmetrically on opposite sides of the upper body. The surface exhibits a smooth, polished finish, with subtle variations in tone and texture. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.For similar see: Master of Stone, n. 7 and 8, p. 19.Size: 65mm x 60mm; Weight: 185gProvenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
