EGYPTIAN MOSAIC GLASS INLAY WITH HORUS AS A FALCON
Ca. 100 BC - AD 100. A mosaic glass inlay depicting Horus as a falcon, in profile, standing and facing right against a translucent blue ground. The head is rendered in blue and white with a large eye. The body is composed of red, black, and yellow segments forming feathers, with the wings extending outward. The legs are defined in red with black and white detailing, standing on a patterned base. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number EA64272, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 26.7.1207.Size: 12mm x 12mm; Weight: 2gProvenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
