Ca. AD 200. A pair of bronze eagles, each depicted with a curved beak and outspread wings. The bodies are robust, with thick necks. Both figures are rendered in a simplified manner, with minimal detailing and rounded proportions. Likely votive or decorative elements. For similar see: J. E. Bonnet, Le bronzes Antiques de Paris, Musee Carnevalet, 1989, Cat. 33, p. 101. Size: 28-29mm x 22-26mm; Weight: 43g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously acquired on the Holland art market in the 1990s.
