AN EGYPTIAN AGATE CAT AMULET, LATE PERIOD TO PTOLEMAIC PERIOD, 664-30 B.C.
This exquisite amulet, meticulously carved from agate, represents a seated cat, a symbol of protection and grace in ancient Egyptian culture. Dating from the Late Period to the Ptolemaic Period (664-30 B.C.), the amulet embodies the reverence Egyptians had for felines, often associated with the goddess Bastet, the deity of home, fertility, and domesticity.
