ROMAN-PARTHIAN BRONZE EAGLE FIGURE, 1ST - 2ND CENTURY A.D.

This bronze figure of an eagle, dating from the Roman-Parthian period (1st - 2nd century A.D.). The eagle, a powerful symbol in both Roman and Parthian cultures, represents strength, authority, and divine protection. This figure captures the bird in a dynamic stance, with its wings partially spread and head held high, conveying a sense of readiness and alertness.

The bronze has developed a rich patina over the centuries, with hues of green and orange that add depth and character to the piece. The detailed texturing on the feathers and the precise modeling of the bird’s form demonstrate the skill of the artisan. This figure may have originally served as a votive offering, a decorative element in a household shrine, or an emblem of power in a military context.

Provenance: Private collection.
