FIVE CHINESE MARIONETTE PUPPETS, LATE QING DYNASTY/EARLY 20TH CENTURY. Comprising: a figure of an Emperor dressing in red silk robe and headdress embroidered with a dragon in coloured silk and gilt thread, a figure wearing embroidered turquoise robe and three attendant figures, two wearing fur edged hats, all with painted wooden faces, some with articulated wooden hands, strung, the first approx. 71cm long. (5) Some wear throughout to painted faces and clothing, some later replacement clothing. Strings are loose and there are no wooden paddles.
Figure with turquoise robe - head detached, replacement cloth feet, noticeable wear, tearing and deterioration to robe.
One male attendant figure with fur edged hat with some damages to wooden hands and feet, his head is detached.
