Letter dated 1864, written in response to the proposal of R. Eliezer Lipman Silberman of Lyck, editor of Hamaggid, to publish a book containing letters of appreciation and blessings to Sir Moses Montefiore from rabbis and communities around the Jewish world. In this letter, expressed in poetic language, the Jewish community of Volkovisk in Belarus expresses its support for Rabbi Silberman’s idea and praises Sir Moses Montefiore for his activities to help Jews around the world.

Rabbi Baruch Mordechai Lipschitz (1809-1885), a disciple of Rabbi Benyamin Diskin, Rabbi of Volkovisk. Rabbi of Semiatyce, Volkovisk - where he also headed a Yeshiva, Novarodok and Shedlits. Author of Bris Yaakov and Beis Mordechai.
