Silver medal minted in Jerusalem in honor of the visit of the Austrian Emperor and his wife to Palestine. 

Obverse: Portraits of the Emperor and his wife Augusta Victoria and a German inscription marking the journey to Palestine. 

Reverse: Engraving of the Augusta Victoria complex and a German greeting.

In 1898, Emperor Wilhelm II made a historic visit to Palestine together with his wife Augusta Victoria. When they reached Jaffa Gate, they were met by a victory parade of hundreds of people. During this visit, which made a strong impression on Jerusalem, the emperor laid the cornerstone for the Augusta Victoria complex on Mt. Scopus and donated money to the Bikkur Cholim Hospital. Several silver medals were issued in honor of his visit.
