Ca. AD 2nd century.A marble head of Harpocrates, portrayed with youthful features. His face consists of a gently rounded chin and large expressive eyes, while a subtle enigmatic smile graces his slightly parted lips. In ancient Egyptian mythology, Harpocrates represented silence and esoteric knowledge. Cf. Bonhams, Antiquites, 5 July 2018, Lot 86. Size: 300mm x 200mm; Weight: 15.2kg Provenance: Ex.
