INDUS VALLEY LARGE TERRACOTTA OFFERING STAND
Ca. 2nd millennium BC A terracotta offering stand with a shallow circular plate of flaring form, balanced on a balustered stem that gracefully expands into a broad foot with a raised rim. The plate is adorned with a central motif of concentric circles and a radiating pattern along the circuit of the plate. In the Indus Valley Civilisation, offering stands such as this one were used to present offerings or ritual items during religious ceremonies or daily rituals.
